![]() From Sweden through Germany, Belgium and France to United Kingdom we stand together in the face of recent terrorism and the evil it brings. Worldwide our peaceful way of life which up until now we have taken for granted is at risk but we are all starting to unite in supporting each other and standing up to the face of evil. On our own shores no matter the colour of our skin or our political persuasion our togetherness is stronger than ever and the will to take more effective action against those that stand against our democratic way of life is growing. Some of the terror attacks in the countries listed above have been caused by relatively basic means - vehicles driven into crowds in streets and on bridges and aided with primitive weapons such as knifes. As the weapons in some of these attacks are easy to attain it is clear that stopping these types of attacks is difficult as they seem easy to carry out and could happen at any time and anywhere. Perhaps this is the reason why many have now started to call for stronger pre-emptive action that some of us may be uncomfortable with but maybe are starting to accept could be the most effective option. Is it time to start sailing close to the human rights wind and take action against those that are currently on terrorism watchlists by seeking them out and detaining and questioning them before any further acts of terrorism are carried out?. Undoubtably there will be mistakes along the way with detaining wrong suspects but is the will of the people and the legal system now at a stage where we will accept those mistakes if ultimately it reduces the risk of further attacks. It's a tough next move, it may even be an 'illegal' next move but the world is spinning out of control both domestically and internationally that it may need the governments of the affected terror countries to start the process and make the major and difficult decisions required. The will of the people is growing towards more effective and stronger action being taken against those that currently live on our own shores that potentially could cause acts of terrorism. Do we take stronger pre-emptive action or do we just respond the best we can and then learn after the terror events have happened. Brave, bold, strong, 'illegal' decisions may now have to be made at the top level - has the time now come for those decisions to be made? - the people of our grieving shores will I'm sure understand and support those difficult decisions.
