I'm fascinated to see how this all develops especially in regards to the routes drones will take and the safety issues.
I'm sure logistics regarding batteries and charging will be resolved pretty quickly but how the routes will be planned and issues over safety will be more difficult. With this and the Facebook trials with internet drones it's interesting times. http://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/amazon-is-closer-to-delivering-by-drone-r2cdnrwd7?shareToken=9b3f8a76252dcc775c21003067880911 25/7/2016 Bring Back Vehicle Tax DiscsYes, like the article below says, there are indeed a number of reasons why the revenue from vehicle excise duty is down but I'm still shaking my head nearly two years later at the decision to remove the visual tax disk from vehicles.
I have around 10 vehicles I need to make sure are all legal and road worthy and the visual windscreen tax disk expiry date was a simple but efficient way of ensuring this but the more crucial fight against un-taxed vehicles I believe is much harder to monitor now that the visual disks are gone. With police budgets stretched over the past two years the number of police vehicles with built in license plate recognition cameras can't be as much as predicted so I'm not surprised revenue is down and I would bet that any new survey figures would show the number of un-taxed vehicles would now be greater than before the tax disk was culled. 24/7/2016 Invest in an ApprenticeshipLike Charlie Mullins the successful plumber from Pimlico, London I believe the credit and value of apprenticeships is not promoted enough within schools and career advice.
University is not for everyone whether that be for a personal or exam result reasons but we need to move away from the Modern Apprenticeship option being seen as a second rate lesser option. Especially within trade apprenticeships - electrical, plumbing, joinery, if you put the effort into not only your initial apprenticeship but also your continual ongoing learning thereafter, your trade apprenticeship will really give you excellent value for the rest of your working life. It's good to see from the article below that the problem with the promotion of apprenticeships is now an issue and hopefully we can start educating the school system and personnel within that there is much more to a successful working life other than a University education. 3/7/2016 Virgin SportsStumbled across this Sunday newspaper article today about Virgin Sports - looks like the company launched by Richard Branson in 2015 is ready to increase its pace in the running and cycling events market.
Mass-participation fitness events have certainly become more popular over the past decade which was highlighted recently in our own area with The Great Run Company launching the Stirling Scottish Marathon event in 2017. These events are a crucial way in raising money for charity so with Virgin's not-for-profit fundraising Virgin Money Giving you can expect these two to be closely linked which in turn will hopefully increase the benefit for charities. |
