The local election results were today and watching councillors up and down the country lose their seats at the hands of voters reminded me of how it can be like in business at times and the word that came to mind was 'Fickle'.
Fickle - "changing frequently, especially as regards one's loyalties or affections." "likely to change frequently often without apparent or cogent reason" Watching some councillors who have achieved and worked hard over the years for their local area lose out to 'tactical' voting by some of the electorate reminded me of business and when I am left bewildered by the decisions taken by some who at the drop of the hat will turn against you for no apparent reason even after years of good service to them. Learning to live with decisions taken by others which are out of your control is one of life's big learning curves but remaining steadfast in your own beliefs and the proper way you conduct yourself or your business will ultimately come out on top - it may take time but time has a funny knack of eventually catching up with 'fickle' people.
